OPI - What Wizardy Is This / Liquid Sand

When I fisrt heard about the Liquid Sand polishes, I thought "Peh!". I was just able to put on a flawless polish, so who needed a finish that looked like you've hit your hand across the wall...

Well, my opinions changed completely when I tried the OPI Mariah Carey Liquid Sand polishes. The finish was not "that" gritty and the glitter was awsome! I was in L-O-V-E!!!!

And then came the OPI's Oz The Great And Powerful Collection... The collection was mostly soft shades, and to tell the truth, they were out of my league. But then, What Wizardy Is This caught my eye... Another Liquid Sand??? Yes, baby... :)

So here it is... It is a brown and golden shade of liquid sand. It is extremely easy to apply, nearly opaque in one coat, but I did the second coat for an intense color. The finish was not that gritty as the Mariah Carey ones and the drying time was 15 minutes approx.

Anyway, I'm still not into regular textured polish, but if OPI continues to make these glittery polishes, I'm in!!!

Born Pretty Store Rhinestones Review

I was recently contacted by Born Pretty Store to test one of their products. This time I chose a wheel of rhinestones. My products came a few days ago and I tried them on immediately.

The rhinestones come in a plastic wheel with 12 compartments. There are lots of rhinestones with various sizes in the package, impossible to count. The biggest ones are 3mm, the middle size is 2mm and the tiniest are 1,5mm in size. These are round flatback acylic rhinestones. Like I said, there are hundreds of them, so for $3,88, they are a pretty good deal I believe.

For my mani, I decided to use my new NYC polishes. I made a gradient with NYC Lincoln Square Lavander and MoMa, which turnes out to be a really cute pink mani...

Then I stamped over the gradient with Konad Special Black with the swirly design from Gals 44.

I then added the rhinestones. I used all the 3 sizes and attached them with clear topcoat. :)

I really loved how this turned out. But I made the mistake of painting a topcoat over the rhinestones, which dulled them a little bit...

You can buy the rhinestones from here and use my 10% off coupon, given by Born Pretty Store... Don't forget, they have free international shipping, too!

RETO 2013 - Week 5 - Inspired by a videogame

Hey, is this the hardest week or what? Inspired by a videogame!!! Well, I'm not a big fan of videogames now but I played my share when I was a kid. And at that time, we had Atari games... My favorite of all was Pacman!

Kids these theys are extremely lucky. I mean I see the games my daughter is playing and some graphics are sooo realistic... Think about it, Pacman was the most detailed character! LOL!

Anyway, for my mani, I used Flormar True Colors in Black and stamped it with Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Mellow Yellow using the Pacman image fromthe FUN2 plate... I added the dots with a dotting tool and we're done!!!!

Oh sweet childhood... :)

Candy Swap!!!

I am a proud member of a Facebook swapping group called Polish Swapping Sisters for nearly 3 months now... We are a group of wonderful ladies all around the world who share the same ambition : Nail Polish!!!

To get in, you should be verified so members don't get swaplifted or something... And we are commited to swap for 12 months with a different partner each month... :) International swapping is the best option, but there are some of us who choose to stay within their own country... :) (You should visit our Facebook page for more info or if you're thinking of joining in)

Anyway, we are a nice, fun group and this month to support our UK friends on the polish shipment issue, we did a candy swap instead of a polish swap...

My sister this month, Vicki, sent me the lovliest package full of candy and nail art supplies. I cannot wait to try the fur effect nail powder... And the candy, well, let's just say I'm working on it as you're reading this.

My First Pure Ice and a Tutorial

Thanks to April, I was able to try a new brand for the first time. As a polish lover, I love trying new brands and I don't insist on using indies or pricy polish... A simple drugstore brand can make me happy, as long as it is easy to apply and has a gorgeous color.

That was the case with Pure Ice Getting Gorgeous. I used the brand for the first time and I must say that I was really impressed. The color is awsome, for starters. I cannot describe it totally, but it is a blue-purple duochrome with a load of glass flecks. Correct me if I'm wrong... :) The application was easy and it was fully opaque in 2 coats.

Unfortunately my camera was having a hard time capturing this beauty... Anyway, I guess it won't be my only Pure Ice polish, if you know what I mean...

Anyway, after putting it on, I was planning on stamping over it. But I loved the color and the shine so much, so I changed my mind and decided to make an evil eye on one of my nails using a dooting tool.
And with quick pictures, I turned the steps into a small tutorial. :)

Happy dotting....

For the Evil Eye Mani;
You'll need a navy blue polish, a baby blue polish and a white polish along with 3 sizes of dotting tools. The rest is in the picture below... :)
